Sonning Flowers

Tell us a little about yourself?

Established in 2004, we are a multi award winning florist specialising in providing fresh floral arrangements for weddings and events. We’ve been a preferred partner at the Harper venues for over a decade and pride ourselves on giving every Harper couple the opportunity to have truly bespoke wedding flowers of the highest quality, which focus on bringing your vision & dreams to life, in the most stunning of settings.

We love using our passion for floral design, together with our knowledge and experience of Notley Abbey, Cain Manor and Botley’s Mansion, to create stunning signature arrangements for the most important day of your lives.

Each of these beautiful venues has a designated page on our website of recent real weddings and you’ll find lots more floral inspiration on our Instagram.

Our most recent accolades include winning Best Regional Wedding Florist at the Wedding Industry Awards for 2022, 2023 and 2024 along with National Wedding Florist of the Year in 2022. Our website and google reviews also include lots of lovely feedback from our Harper couples.

How would you describe your working style? Do you only focus on one wedding at a time or do you have a team of florists working on multiple events?

As we continue to grow, Sonning Flowers is much more than one person. We have a truly talented team of florists who are all City and Guilds trained, many of whom have been with Sonning Flowers for many years. Heather, our owner oversees all weddings and there is always a primary wedding florist dedicated to each particular wedding.

How far in advance should couples book you?

Ideally, 12 months to 18 months in advance. Flowers are seasonal and so it’s beneficial to discuss your wedding flowers at roughly the same time of year that you are hoping to get married.

We invite all booked couples to our flower workshop (by appointment) around 3 months before your big day to see some of the flowers we are considering using for your wedding. We look at colour palettes and styles along with flowers and foliages which will compliment one another for your date. It’s also the perfect opportunity to meet couples in person before the wedding and run through the final details.

Do you offer specific packages or is it all bespoke?

No two weddings are the same. All of our weddings are bespoke. Every couple will have at least an initial consultation and a final run through appointment (which can take place at our lovely flower workshop or remotely) before their big day. We are always on hand throughout the planning process as your plans evolve or there are any designs, styles or schemes you’d like to discuss together.

What is your favourite flower and why?

In the spring I love Dutch tulips, muscari and ranunculus. During the summer months my favourites are peonies, roses and hydrangea. In the winter I love amaryllis. We are lucky to have so many fresh flowers to choose from!

What are you expecting see more mainstream/more common in the next year or two?

Romantic, soft and floaty. Lots of candlelight, petals and single stems.

If you were getting married, how would you choose your wedding florist?

I would choose a wedding florist who listens to my requirements and understands the look I am trying to create. Someone who I believe we can work together to help create my dream day and that I feel I can trust.
