Dulcie & Jake's Winter Wedding

A romantic January celebration at one of Surrey’s premier exclusive use wedding venues

The morning began quietly upstairs, where Dulcie and her bridesmaids gathered in matching navy silk pyjamas, sharing a celebratory toast before the day’s festivities took hold. Dulcie’s gown was a striking choice for a winter wedding: a fitted lace design with long sleeves and a high neck, its sweeping train, finished with a cathedral-length veil. Her bridesmaids wore emerald green, carrying loose, textural bouquets of white gypsophila. Downstairs, Jake and his groomsmen, dressed in black tailoring with white rose buttonholes, gathered among the mansion’s wood-panelled library shelves and stone staircase, for some pre-ceremony group photos.

Dulcie and Jake exchanged vows in Botleys Mansion’s orangery, where January light poured through the glass-roofed ceiling. Crystal chandeliers hung above the aisle, with their guests seated either side of a crisp white aisle runner. The couple made their vows surrounded by loved ones, in the striking Atrium that makes Botleys Mansion one of the most sought-after historic, exclusive use wedding venues in Surrey.

As ceremony turned to celebrations, guests gathered on the gravel forecourt beside Botleys Mansion’s stone fountain, with the surrounding parkland behind. Confetti was thrown as Dulcie and Jake stepped out as newlyweds, from under the stone staircase, with guests lining both sides creating a confetti path. The freedom to move between the mansion’s grounds, indoor reception spaces, and atrium throughout the afternoon was a reminder of the flow and privacy that comes with booking an exclusive use wedding venue for a day entirely uninterrupted by any other event.

The couple’s styling carried a distinctly wintry elegance throughout the day. White flowers with hints of red, softened with gypsophila and eucalyptus, created plinth arrangements set either side of the atrium’s sweeping staircase. The same palette continued onto the reception tables, dressed simply in white linen with low glass vases and flickering candlelight, creating a romantic ambience to the room. The five-tier wedding cake, finished in soft white with delicate sugar flowers and clusters of deep red berries, drew the palette together beautifully and stood as a natural centrepiece of the reception.

As evening fell, a champagne tower stood proud and ready beside the marble fireplace in the grand entrance hall for a fun moment before the evening reception. Meanwhile, Botleys Mansion’s atrium was transformed, its glass roof reflecting candlelight and the subtle sparkle of the crystal chandelier hung above a black and white checkerboard dance floor. Dulcie and Jake cut their cake together on the dance floor, laughing as they did, before leading their guests into an evening of dancing and celebration with a live band and DJ.
