BOOKING A HONEYMOON STAYCATION

A honeymoon doesn't have to be mean jet setting far away...

It’s almost become the norm to venture far away to a remote island and spend your days sipping cocktails on a sunny, sandy beach. A UK staycation may not have even crossed your mind, but with so many amazing places on your doorstep, there really is plenty of options when it comes to honeymoon staycations.

Hotel staycation

Researching flights to a faraway destination may seem appealing, but with the airport wait and the air travel on either side, your precious honeymoon time can quickly be taken up with travelling. Whether a hotel escape in a busy city, or a boutique hotel on the coast, just think, all that money saved by not flying could mean you can afford to upgrade your hotel and have that luxury staycation in style.

Harper’s boutique hotel, The Harper, is tucked away a mile inland from the picturesque village of Blakeney, North Norfolk. The spacious bedrooms categorised as Big, Bigger and Biggest, spoil you with four-poster beds, high-spec bathrooms with monsoon showers, and a fridge stocked with pre-made cocktails. With an indoor pool, sauna, steam room, and treatments available you’ll be sure to unwind from your wedding planning days. Venture outdoors to see the beautiful beaches and salty creeks that Norfolk has to offer, taste the sensational local seafood and visit the stunning nature reserves. With so much to see, you may find yourself returning for anniversaries to come.

Unwind outdoors

If hotels aren’t quite your thing, why not turn to nature and experience a cosy cabin or glamping pod in the open outdoors. Either on a campsite or tucked away on its own down a country lane, catch some peace and quiet for yourselves and unwind after the exciting, yet hectic, wedding. Imagine a long relaxing soak in a wood-fired hot tub or toasting marshmallows together around a fire pit in the evening…. mmm!

Get adventurous

If sitting still isn’t your style how about an action-packed honeymoon weekend? Consider water sports, hiking, or fishing – whatever takes your fancy. The UK has plenty of coastlines and wide-open spaces to satisfy your cravings, from picturesque mountains in the lake district, wide unspoiled beaches in Norfolk, to mechanical waves for surfers in Cornwall… there really is something for everyone.

Why not bring your furry friend along?

With so many pet-friendly hotels and holiday rentals in the UK, they get to join in too, creating a home away from home. Not only does this avoid the hassle of finding a kennel/cattery, or someone to take care of your pet for you, but it eliminates the worry of them being without you for a period of time! If travelling by car, it’s likely they are used to the environment, making the journey much smoother and more enjoyable for them too.

Things to consider

Of course, with staycations, there’s still the travel to consider and costs to budget for, such as petrol, but one benefit is that there are fewer restrictions on what you can take with you in the car. You can load up the liquids, pack as many outfits as you like, and pile in the suitcases (30+ kg), the surfboard, the dog, and even the champagne leftover from the wedding!
