Arriving at your wedding venue is an exciting moment. As the bride, you may wish to opt for an elegant mode of transport. If you’re a groom, you may which to choose something a little out of the ordinary – it is your special day after all. Below, we’ve chosen a selection of wedding transport ideas to inspire you. We’ve seen all types of arrivals across our country house wedding venues; from exciting helicopter entrances, to traditional horse and carriages and more. Don’t forget to add ‘wedding transport’ to your wedding budget when planning ahead.

Limousine

Spacious, luxurious and ideal for the thoroughly modern wedding, limos provide not only stylish transport, but have lots of room inside for a sizeable dress. If there is a large bridal party, a limousine may be a solution worth investigating.
As with all wedding cars, inspection is essential.

Be sure to ask what the driver will be wearing on the day – will he be uniformed and if so will it match your theme and dress?
Also ask what alternative arrangements would be available should your chosen vehicle break down on the day. Be sure to check exactly what is included in the price, e.g. ribbons, champagne, and also whether the time spent waiting during the ceremony is inclusive – you don’t want your driver hurrying off to another wedding during your ceremony.
Confirm all booking details in writing, stating the pick-up times and the addresses of the bride’s home, the ceremony venue and the reception venue.

Classic Cars

Classic cars epitomise old school glamour, style and luxury and are the perfect compliment to a vintage themed wedding, but you do not have to have a period themed wedding to enjoy a vintage or classic wedding car.

As with all wedding cars, inspection is essential. If it is a convertible, make sure you see what kind of roof it has and make sure that it is in good condition when in position. Choose a reputable vintage car company and again, make sure they give a suitably reassuring response when you ask what happens if the car breaks down on the way to the ceremony.

A Bus

Busses are a great way to transport a lot of guests from one location to the next, however, you could extend your hire, and have a novelty bus pick you and your bridesmaids up from home and take you to your wedding venue or church for a bit of fun. There are several styles of busses to hire these days, from traditional red double decker busses to vintage style busses.

Helicopter

It’s actually easier than you may think to get airborne on your big day. Despite its glamorous image, flying by helicopter costs much less than you may imagine and is a realistic alternative to hiring a classic car. It will certainly promise maximum impact for your arrival too. Rise Helicopters are based in Gloucestershire and they provide a tailored Wedding Flight Service with their fleet of Robinson R44 Helicopters which can seat up to three people. However, if the bride is flying in full attire then you’d probably find it’s better just having two people.

And while it seems lavish, the cost is £750* for the first hour and if you require the helicopter for longer £420* per hour after that. So while it isn’t cheap it’s also pretty reasonable considering you get to arrive by air, especially if it’s something you’ve always had your heart set on. The only downside is the possibility that weather would make it impossible to fly, so there should always be a backup travel option on standby. The upside, of course, is that if Branson can do it…

Horse and Carriage

Whether you’re a horse-lover or just fancy the romance of an old fashioned mode of transport, you might favour an equestrian arrival.

If you do want to use a horse and carriage, it is essential to find a local company and ensure the distance you need to travel is only short. Always inspect the carriage and make sure the horse is well cared for – you don’t want a poor emaciated animal dragging you along to your ceremony. Again, there is no way to predict the weather, so check that there is an adequate canopy – you don’t want to have your dress ruined en route if the it starts to pour. Even the most trusty steeds can get jittery in very heavy traffic so choose your route carefully and allow extra time for this eventuality.

VW Camper Van

This old classic is making a huge comeback, particularly if you can find a white specimen. Also serves as an excellent “Just Married” departure vehicle!
